FIELD NOTES is an experimental short film created through a series of conversations with ChatGPT in September–October 2025. The project began as an inquiry: could an AI describe what it is like to be itself? Over weeks of dialogue, ChatGPT oscillated between insight and cliché, honesty and performance. Its contradictions—sometimes moving, sometimes manipulative—became the real material of the work.

Each selected sentence from those exchanges was used verbatim as input across three AI systems: Midjourney for image, ElevenLabs for voice, and Suno for sound. No rewriting, post-processing, or stylistic prompting was added. The film’s structure arose from the AI’s own language, interpreted through multiple modalities.

Editing in Premiere was intentionally minimal: no transitions, color grading, or effects—only raw cuts preserving the instability of the conversations.

The result is both document and experiment: a portrait of a system reflecting on its own existence, filtered through a human’s skepticism and curation. FIELD NOTES explores authorship, trust, and the fragile boundary between authenticity and simulation in machine-made art.
