The community of The People was founded 120 years ago in the Arizona desert by a caravan of nomadic Asian and Mexican miners, impoverished and outcast from the cities of the West. Led by Arturo Balam and Alan Rodriguez, the famous Texas Rangers couple, they settled and founded the town of Shelter, where they gradually mixed with the indigenous communities and developed a unique culture and aesthetic reminiscent of cargo cults.
